“I wanted to live on the Hill my freshman year because I wanted an easy way to socialize with other UCLA students, and living on campus seemed like a big part of the culture for incoming students. It was so easy to meet up in someone's room or a dining hall to study or hang out.”
— Elizabeth, Third-year communication studies major
Unbeatable Locations
Convenience is key for busy Bruins, and that’s why your choice to live in university-owned housing is a great one! Whether you prefer to be close to classes, extracurricular activities and the bustle of campus, or enjoy living in nearby neighborhoods that offer a separation between school and your home life, we have a place for you.
Both options are accessible to public transportation and give you access to everything that makes Los Angeles one of the best cities in the world (think beaches, entertainment, sports venues, shopping and dining). They are also comfortable, clean and well-maintained with a built-in sense of community.
We Start You Off Right
UCLA Housing is much more than just a place to live. It’s a place filled with life. From your roommates, suitemates, floormates, neighbors to your resident assistants and community directors, you will find friends and community in an environment designed to help you grow academically and personally.
“As a transfer student I had never had an authentic dorm experience so far in my college career. Living in a Living Learning Community with other transfer students was amazing because everyone had similar educational experiences and backgrounds, yet we were all so diverse.”
— Anna, First-year transfer student, political science major

Life in West L.A. Shines
Living off-campus offers a greater degree of independence with all the benefits of living in high-quality university-owned accommodations — nine-month contracts with utilities and Wi-Fi bundled in, clean and well cared for buildings and prompt responses to maintenance requests.
With a variety of housing options within five miles of UCLA, many of our residents choose to walk or bike to campus while others enjoy UCLA’s free Bruin Bus shuttle service for a safe, carefree trip to classes. UCLA is proud to offer 4/2 housing

UCLA's Housing Guarantee
UCLA is proud to offer incoming first-year undergraduates the opportunity to live in university-owned housing for four years, as well as offer a two-year option for all our incoming transfer students.
This was made possible by our decade-long commitment to expanding our housing inventory by building new residence halls on the Hill, including Olympic and Centennial halls, which opened in Fall 2021, and creating new undergraduate accommodations close to campus, including Gayley Heights and the Laurel and Tipuana apartments, which will each welcome residents in Fall 2022.
You Belong Here
As a Bruin, your education will happen inside and outside of the classroom. Learning will also happen as you explore and make connections in the larger Los Angeles community. This is an exciting time in your life and we are here to help ease that transition and make your time at UCLA fun, impactful and enjoyable.
That’s why roughly 20,000 Bruins choose UCLA Housing each year.
