Elizabeth, Third-year communication studies major

“I wanted to live on the Hill my freshman year because I wanted an easy way to socialize with other UCLA students, and living on campus seemed like a big part of the culture for incoming students. It was so easy to meet up in someone's room or a dining hall to study or hang out.”

Unbeatable Locations

Convenience is key for busy Bruins, and that’s why your choice to live in university-owned housing is a great one! Whether you prefer to be close to classes, extracurricular activities and the bustle of campus, or enjoy living in nearby neighborhoods that offer a separation between school and your home life, we have a place for you.

Both options are accessible to public transportation and give you access to everything that makes Los Angeles one of the best cities in the world (think beaches, entertainment, sports venues, shopping and dining). They are also comfortable, clean and well-maintained with a built-in sense of community.

“As a transfer student I had never had an authentic dorm experience so far in my college career. Living in a Living Learning Community with other transfer students was amazing because everyone had similar educational experiences and backgrounds, yet we were all so diverse.”

The Thrill of the Hill

UCLA’s on-campus residential community is called the Hill because of its location on a hill adjacent to the west side of campus.

Our furnished rooms and study spaces come with popular amenities like high-speed Internet, a fitness center, a convenience store, free premium streaming service, a mail center, laundry rooms, music practice rooms, outdoor recreation facilities, and community gardens, all with routine housekeeping, maintenance, and 24-hour front desk support.

UCLA's Housing Guarantee

UCLA is proud to offer incoming first-year undergraduates the opportunity to live in university-owned housing for four years, as well as offer a two-year option for all our incoming transfer students.

This was made possible by our decade-long commitment to expanding our housing inventory by building new residence halls on the Hill, including Olympic and Centennial halls, which opened in Fall 2021, and creating new undergraduate accommodations close to campus, including Gayley Heights and the Laurel and Tipuana apartments, which will each welcome residents in Fall 2022.
