All eligible students must complete a new housing application to update building type and/or roommate preferences. Building type and roommate requests will be considered, but not guaranteed.
Housing will begin making offers the first week of July and will continue on a rolling basis through summer. Decisions regarding initial housing offers will take the following into consideration:
- First- through fourth-year students who are housing eligible Pell grant recipients
- Students with an institutional need to be on campus (which includes, but is not limited to, veterans, former foster youth and student-athletes)
- Distance from campus for first-year students
- Third- and fourth-year housing eligible students who must be on campus to take courses or participate in other activities that can only be offered on site
After considering the above, if space remains, priority will be given to by lottery:
- Remaining first-year students
- Remaining housing eligible returning students
We are asking students and families to consider and make decisions for the entire academic year. Students who are eligible to receive an offer for 2020-21 will not have the opportunity to defer their offer until Winter Quarter, because capacity for the Winter Quarter is currently unknown, given that LACDPH heath guidance is evolving. If there are changes that allow for new offers for Winter Quarter, Housing will reach out to eligible students to reapply.
